A medication review is a focused conversation about your prescription medicines, non-prescription products and supplements. We can review why you take each product, how you use it, possible interactions, side effects and practical problems with your routine.
Who may benefit?
- People taking several medicines or managing a complicated schedule.
- People with questions after a hospital visit or prescription change.
- People who need help using an inhaler, injection device or medication packaging.
- Patients and caregivers seeking an up-to-date medication list, with the patient's consent.
Coverage and eligibility
A PharmaCare-funded review requires a clinical need and provincial eligibility. Generally, you must have had five or more qualifying medicines dispensed within the previous six months. The pharmacist checks whether your medicines and circumstances meet the program rules. Ask about charges and insurance reimbursement if a service is not publicly funded.[2]
Prepare for your visit
Bring your BC Services Card, benefit information and medicines or a complete list. Tell us about allergies, recent changes, missed doses and what matters most to you. Do not stop or change prescribed treatment without advice.
