Oreganum vulgare, more commonly known as Oregano oil, has long been used as a potent and broad-spectrum anti-microbial agent, capable of warding off infections, strengthening the immune system and improving digestion. Anecdotally, its use at the first signs of infection are effective for preventing the worsening of symptoms and for shortening the duration of illness.

Oregano oil naturally contains a variety of anti-microbial compounds, including thymol, but the most notable active ingredient is carvacrol. Research has shown that oregano oil with 75% carvacrol content has a strong anti-microbial effect against a variety of infectious agents including the bacterium Staph aureas, Klebsellia pneumonia and Escherichia coli, as well as the yeast Candida albicans. Oregano oil is also capable of reducing parasitic counts in those with digestive infections.

Cyto-Matrix’s Oregano Oil contains a wildcrafted oregano that undergoes a steam distillation process in order to optimize medicinal contents. This is the preferred method of extraction to ensure an oregano oil with potent anti-microbial action and optimal immune support. Cyto-Matrix’s Oregano Oil is standardized to a minimum 75% carvacrol content and is suspended in a medium chain triglyceride (MCT) base made from coconut to improve stability, tolerability and absorption.
