Commonly known as sweet wormwood, Qinghao, Artemisia annua has been used as a staple ingredient in Chinese traditional medicine due to its numerous therapeutic properties, with descriptions in texts from 168BC. Artemisinin, the primary component of Artemisia annua, has been widely used as an anti-malarial drug. The Artemisia annua plant apart from artemisinin, contains other bioactives such as sesquiterpene lactones, which could have antihelminthic properties.
